Doe Deere soon started picking up more business from selling her new Lime Crime cosmetics, and by 2009 she saw her online sales reach levels like never before. Soon she had enough income to finance her own company, and she and her husband moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and officially opened Lime Crime’s headquarters. Doe Deere has partnered with a lab company that works with her on colors and finished dyes, lipsticks, makeup and eyeliner products, but she’s made it clear that nothing hits the market until she’s personally tried it on. Whitney Wolfe is a tech savvy young lady who was in tune with her passions from a tender age. The 26-year old started Tinder to connect anyone looking for a connect people looking for a date.

She left the Tinder in March 2014 and began Bumble, another successful dating app. The app had five million conversations in the first eight months it was up and 10 billion swipes and 800 million matches in the following three years. App statistics indicate that women account for more than half of the total users and the average user spends about an hour daily to view profiles and send messages. Bumble is the first app that lets the woman direct the date by making the man who shows interest wait for the lady to respond within 24 hours. Bumble has approximately 35 employees worldwide and is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Whitney Wolfe recently launched a subsection of Bumble, Bumble BFF, to connect women looking for friendships. The first week of Bumble BFF got 1 million swipes, and currently, the number of subscribers is at 12.5 million. Whitney’s motivation to start Bumble BFF was fueled by her understanding of how disorienting it can be to be lonely due to some factors. She has lived in six states and is conversant with the challenge of making new friends in a new place. Additionally, Whitney Wolfe said that the app would help women create meaningful relationships that fill in the void before marriage present itself at the age of 27, which is the average estimate for most.

Bumble BFF is currently available on iTunes and works in close collaboration similar to the original app. After downloading the app, then user fills in the personal bio which also includes an option of whether one is willing to travel to meet up a new pal. The data algorithm links the profile to Facebook, but the app has no permission to show any information of the user to on their Facebook profile. The app’s settings allow the user to reach out to anyone within a ten-mile radius or more. After viewing the photos of another user, one swipes to the right to express interest and has to wait 24 hours for a response. If one accidentally swipes to the right, she can reverse the sent notification by shaking the phone.

After 24 hours no activity from the interested party, the app automatically hides the profile from the suggestion feed. Bumble BFF allows the user to temporarily hide their profile to prevent anyone not contacted from having a view. The app is in sync with the phone’s relocation meaning the suggestion feed shifts as one moves. Currently, the app distinguishes platonic friendships from romantic ones by color.
